Jennifer Castner directs Eurasian Wildlife and Peoples, a non-profit organization that supports and partners with activists, researchers, and experts to protect natural landscapes and wildlife and support Indigenous peoples and traditional lifeways in and around Eurasia. An environmentalist, community ally, and coalition-builder, she has had close ties with the environmental justice and Indigenous rights movements in Russia since 2002 and more recently in Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Ukraine. Before creating EWandP, Jennifer directed The Altai Project, named “undesirable” by the Russian prosecutor general’s office in its 25th year of work. She has raised over $1.75 million of direct small grants support for grassroots activism, protected areas, and conservation biology in those countries. She lives in the United States.
