Posted on December 18, 2023March 17, 2024 By Editor 1 Comment on UWEC Work Group webinar – Green recovery of Ukraine

The sixth webinar in our Environmental Consequences of the Ukraine War took place on 21 December. Ukraine War Environmental Consequences Work Group organized it with support from Reporters without Borders Sweden and Svea Green Foundation. The topic was Ukraine’s green recovery.

Oleksiy Vasyliuk, a UWEC Work Group expert and director of Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group, discussed opportunities for the restoration of Ukraine’s ecosystems that were destroyed or damaged as a result of military action. He moved on to suggest possible conservation projects that could facilitate environmental restoration.

Torsten Wöllert is a Brussels-based expert in environmental and energy-related issues serving on the European Commission’s Ukraine Support Group. During his presentation Wöllert focused on rebuilding Ukraine’s energy sector, including opportunities to develop renewable energy and international aid and initiatives in that sector.
